It Won't Last long
My country called to serve, so far from home.
Mother's tears, and father's pride.
Two brothers left behind, my sweetheart asked to wait.
Arms to bear, the fighting is over there!
Men don't cry, missing home and mother's pie.
It won't last long they say each day, time to go and sail away.
Tropical breezes, oh Corregidor ain't so bad!
Missing my brothers, wish they were here.
Letters from home they sound so scared, Mac Aurther has left and we are all alone.
It won't last long they say each day, we hide in caves by day.
Men are praying, the roar of guns, they say grown men don't cry!
Missing home and mother's pie.
The pain is great to soul and body.
It won't last long they say at Camp 10-A.
It's time to say my prayers for the night.
Missing Mother, talks with Dad.
Now I lay me down to sleep, if I should die before I wake....
